Football Recruiting: Nuggets, Intel & More “What If’s”…

Clemson is moving right along in it’s 2022 class, having secured commitments from two top secondary players this past week. What’s ahead? What’s ahead will make every Clemson fan giddy for next year.

To date, the Tigers have picked up seven commitments, 6 are 4-stars and 1 is a 3-star (K Robert Gunn). Their ranking jumps up to #19 but with a “little help”, Clemson can make more significant jumps.

For instance, if the Tigers were to add, say, #2 Athlete, 5-star Keon Sabb, the calculated points go from 142 to 166. Then let’s add, ohhhhhh, 5-star DT Travis Shaw. This now moves the point total up to 188. See how that works? Let’s add one more into the group, how about 5-star DE Jeremiah Alexander. He pushes the total to 209. Those three alone would move the Tigers to #4 in the country. Remember, this is just “what if” these three came to be Tigers.

Two new names that have come up recently could figure into the Tigers plans in 2022. WR Antonio WIlliams of Dutch Fork High School in Irmo, SC, and WR Andre Green Jr. of Richmond, Virginia are both creeping up the Tiger board. The aforementioned Green has accumulated 57 offers so far. 57.

The Tigers pulled in Missouri CB Toriano Pride this past week, the #4 player out of the state of Missouri. The #3 player in the same state is also a Clemson target, DE DJ Wesolak. He is also ranked as the #10 edge rusher in the country.

What is heart warming is the fact that Clemson is one of the best in the country at identifying and developing talent. This staff routinely turns 3-star projected talent into 4-star production, and 4-star projected talent into 5-star production. One of Dabo’s biggest goals is to turn everyone of his players, highly recruited all the way down to walk-ons into first class people. They are one of the best at that too.

The aforementioned players are all Clemson targets. Will they become Tigers? Only time will tell. The target list is not limited to the players mentioned above. There are many more and we will continue to update Tiger recruiting. The Tigers are recruiting at a High level and now that the restrictions have been lifted, these kids get to come to campus and see “Everything Clemson.” It makes a difference.

Dabo Swinney and his staff are hard at recruiting in this 2022 class, as well as starting on 2023. It’s hard not to mention “The best is yet to come” but when it comes to the 2022 class, it is an appropriate saying. Hold on to your hats.
