Pancake Wins Indiana Women’s Amateur Championship
Clemson, S.C.—Annabelle Pancake, who will be a sophomore on the Clemson women’s golf team in the fall, won the Indiana Women’s Amateur Championship last week at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel, Ind.
The native of Zionsville, Ind. had rounds of 65-66-69 for a 200 total for the 54 holes and set numerous tournament records in the process. She won by 14 shots over Haylin Harris of Carmel, Ind and that victory margin is a tournament record. Pancake also established records for 54-hole score, low score for the first 36 holes of the tournament and for score vs. par for 54 holes.
Pancake had 21 birdies and an eagle, 11 more under-par holes than anyone else in the field. She won the 2019 tournament held at Kokomo Country Club. Her mother, Libby, won the Indiana Women’s Amateur in 1985.
Pancake was a starter in every tournament for Clemson as a freshman this past year and helped Kelley Hester’s team to the NCAA Tournament. Among her freshman highlights was a round of 65 in the final round of the Clover Cup in Mesa, Arizona on March 14. She finished ninth at that national tournament and the 65 tied the Clemson record for low score in a round.
