Trevor Lawrence Virginia Tech Post-Game

By Makenna Biehl

This past Saturday, Clemson starting quarterback helped lead the #3 Clemson Tigers to a win over the Virginia Tech Hokies. The win advanced the Tigers to a 9-1 record; in addition to that, it made Trevor Lawrence the winningest starting quarterback in Clemson Football history. Lawrence’s 33rd win helped him pass Rodney Williams, Tajh Boyd, and Deshaun Watson.

A big part of pulling off the win against the Hokies was adjusting to playing in such cold temperatures. Lawrence explained how it shows a lot that the team didn’t let the elements affect them. He further explained how he felt they did an excellent job of managing the cold weather. Another thing that Lawrence and his offense had to adjust to was Virginia Tech’s offense wearing down the clock. The biggest challenge Lawrence found from this was the difficulty that there was to get in a rhythm.

After overcoming the obstacles that Virginia Tech was giving out, the Tigers came out on top. Lawrence explained how it was rewarding to see senior running back Darien Rencher get into the endzone. He went into further detail, saying how Rencher just won the Disney Inspiration Award, and it was perfect timing for him to get a touchdown.

Clemson’s win is now taking them to the ACC Championship game on December 19th in Charlotte, where they will have a rematch against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. https://twitter.com/ClemSportNews/status/1335447591841128448?s=20
