Clemson Offensive Coordinator Tony Elliott spoke with media on Saturday following the Tigers win over the Hokies. Elliott explained how the biggest challenge for the Tigers wasn’t the cold weather; it was overcoming the Hokies game plan. He went into detail, saying how they needed to play efficiently because they couldn’t get in as many plays as they usually do. He went into further detail, saying how the offense utilized the running game to wear down the Virginia Tech defense.

Elliott highlighted Cornell Powell’s 65-yard touchdown after coming off of a pass interference call. He explained that they decided to challenge Powell, and Elliott expressed how proud he was of Powell’s toughness.

Elliott also expressed his excitement for Darien Rencher. Rencher won the Disney Spirit Award earlier this week and put up a 50-yard touchdown against the Hokies. Elliott explained how it was amazing seeing the excitement and joy that Rencher’s teammates had for him.

The Tigers are now preparing to play in the ACC Championship on December 19th against Notre Dame. Elliott believes that there are some things that they can improve on before then, but he is proud of the team’s performance this past Saturday.
