Tigers Take Down Pitt. in a Snowy Tigertown

By: Jackson Sexton

On a Snowy Saturday inside Littlejohn Coliseum, the Tigers (17-4, 7-1 ACC) took down the Pitt Panthers (9-12, 2-6 ACC). This is the second matchup between the teams, the first one being earlier this month where the Tigers took the win on the road 73-68.

The first half was rather low scoring, mainly on the Panthers’ end, as the Tigers had a 33-16 lead. The Tigers shot an efficient, 50% FG, 46% 3FG, and 80% FT first half. The Panthers, however, put up heavily inefficient numbers, shooting 6/28 (21.4%) from the field and 2/18 (11.1%) from beyond the arc. Foul trouble was also an issue for the Panthers, putting Clemson in the bonus halfway through the first half. In the second half, Pitt continued to struggle with fouling, landing Clemson in the bonus even quicker than they did in the previous half. Clemson’s strong defense is what allowed them to finish the job, forcing 14 turnovers out of Pitt and holding them to a 63-52 win.
