This past year, college athletes have been using their voices to help create a push for change. This includes Clemson football players Trevor Lawrence and Darien Rencher, who have taken the initiative to use their voices to create a positive impact. From helping lead a march on Clemson’s campus to using their social media platforms to share stories and ideas, Lawrence and Rencher are doing everything they can to make a difference.

Lawrence, Rencher, and several other college football players took to Twitter on Sunday, sharing a post that included #OurVoiceMatters. It goes into detail on how players are using the 2020 football season as an outlet to advocate for racial justice. Saying, “As we return to our respective campuses and most of us suit up in pads for the 2020 college football season, we realize the power we have to enact this change. We, the players, have a voice, and we will use it to drive out injustice, improve our communities, and inspire future generations.”

The second part of the post goes into the five-point plan on how the players plan to help create a real change. These points include plans for voting, discussions, community outreach, normalizing routine conversations about change, and using gameday to raise awareness. The players continue further, saying that they know that they can make a difference, and they’re going to make it their responsibility to do so.
