Tigers win 14th consecutive game against the Panthers

PITTSBURGH – Clemson men’s basketball won its second consecutive road game of the week on Saturday afternoon and its first of 2026, defeating Pittsburgh 73-68. Clemson has won 10-straight ACC road contests dating back to the 2024-25 season.

It’s the seventh time in program history Clemson has won its first two ACC games on the road, but it’s the first time they have begun ACC play with consecutive road victories.

The Tigers (12-3, 2-0), winners of 14-straight against the Panthers, were led by Jestin Porter (Houston, Texas/Cypress Ridge/Middle Tennessee State) who recorded a season-high 21 points on 3-for-6 shooting from three and 8-for-12 from the floor. It was the first 20-point performance of the season for Clemson.

Clemson controlled the paint, outscoring Pittsburgh 30-28. Nick Davidson (Mission Viejo, Calif./Mater Dei) scored 14 points to go along with three rebounds. RJ Godfrey (Suwanee, Ga./North Gwinnett/Georgia) scored 10 of his 14 points in the first half and added three rebounds.

Clemson trailed 35-34 after the opening stanza. Early in the second half the Tigers stretched their lead to a game-high seven points and then again in the final two minutes to close out the victory.

Dillon Hunter (Atlanta, Ga./Westlake) distributed a team-high four assists to with four points and five rebounds. Butta Johnson (Huntsville, Ala./Grissom/UAB) and Carter Welling (Draper, Utah/Corner Canyon/Utah Valley) scored 10 and 8 points to aid the Tigers’ effort in securing the win. 

Welling nearly totaled a double-double finishing with a game-high 10 rebounds.

The Tigers return to the court on Wednesday Jan. 7 when they host SMU for its first home ACC matchup of the season in Littlejohn Coliseum at 9 p.m. on ESPNU.
