Clemson Sports News had the chance to catch up with one of the more interesting prospects to camp here in Tiger-town last week at the Dabo Swinney Summer high school skills camp. Troy Ford Jr, an Savannah, Ga Native brought his game to camp and showed the Clemson staff here why his name is coming up on a lot of recruiting short list’ as the 2023’s start to really garner the attention of the college football world.
Ford, who’s considered an “athlete” as he works on both sides of the line of scrimmage as RB/LB combo for his Calvary Day HS teammates and fans back in Savannah. On this day it was all about the Tigers and the many other suitors to come, but on this particular day it was “All In” time and here is what the talented recruit out of the Southern tip of Georgia had to say about his time in Clemson and interactions and more…
CSN: Tell us what the Clemson camp was like for u development-wise .. u learn anything there fundamental wise you can take back to your season…
Ford: “What I got from the Clemson camp was an amazing experience, I learned a lot from that camp that will help me during the season like foot work in certain situations.”
CSN: What was it like working with Coach Reed and what was his message to you as u guys talked about recruitment…
Ford: “I learned a lot from coach Reed, that is actually where I got that tip about the foot work.”
CSN: Did you tour campus … Your thoughts of Clemson as a place to come be a student-athlete….
Ford: “I did tour almost all of Clemson, I feel like it could be a great place for me to expand my career, and they really do put school first with their athletes and I really like that.”
CSN: Do you plan on coming back for a visit during the season? …
Ford: “I do plan to come to back I would to love to have that experience.”
CSN: Tell us your favorite moment or most memorable moment while at Clemson.
Ford: “My favorite moment was the paw journey and seeing how they did stuff in their certain way, that is something I really look at is what they do for their places and they do a lot for them“
CSN: What NFL or College player would you say you emulate or admire and or have learned from growing up watching football?
Ford: I admire and try to match my game with Justin Flowe, I really like how violent and fast he plays the game, I learned from him and watching him how when you see something you get it, no matter what“
