#19 Clemson Wins 6-2 Over South Alabama to take Season Opener

Clemson, SC

Clemson 19th ranked and looking to find  a lot of answers from starting pitching and how the rotation plays out here in the opening month.  Also at the same time Coach Monte Lee and his staff have to figure out how to generate missing offensive fire power that was lost to graduation and the MLB draft.

Former Tiger and 6th round pick of the Twins of Minnesota Chris Williams threw out the ceremonial first pitch.  And then it was the Tigers Brooks Crawford who took to the mound and up until the 4th inning was pitching a flawless game.  However, after back to back homers that gave South Alabama the lead 2-0 and Crawford was then relieved by Mat Clark.  Clark  showed up with a great breaking ball and off speed change  that had the South Alabama hitters trying to adjust the entire time he was on the mound.

Clark and fellow bullpen mate Carson Spiers combined to shut out the Jaguars the rest of the way.  Where as the Clemson offense looked a lot like last years team .  With the long ball paving the way for the Tigers in the 5th with a 3 run blast by All ACC short stop Logan Davidson to make it 3-2 heading into the 6th. Add another Solo shot by Michael Green in the 7th.  And the Tigers added some insurance later in the 8th when they managed to score two more on a hot shot to left field by am Hall to bring it to the final of 6-2.
