Trevor Lawrence Post-Practice Presser 8/7

QB1 Not Going Anywhere

Trevor Lawrence had his first media availability over zoom with the press following practice today since camp started yesterday. Lawrence spent roughly 15 minutes answering questions ranging from dealing with COVID-19 over the off season to how camp was going. Here is what I gathered from our time with QB1:

QB1 and RB1 committed to playing

Lawrence said that he and Travis Etienne talked together about the dangers of playing the 2020 season and the concerns of COVID-19 but they were never in doubt about playing and are pumped for the coming season. Lawrence said: it’s awesome to have a guy like Travis on the team that wants to play football and cares about coming back for his last year.”

With multiple first round projected players opting out of the 2020 college football season, it is nice to see “the Clemson difference” with our two star players wanting to play their final season with the Tigers before taking their talents to the NFL.

Safety Procautions

Lawrence stated that camp is pretty much normal besides having to wear face coverings when the players have to take their helmets off and trying the best to stand 2-yards, or six feet, away from other teammates.

Lawrence also said to the media that it will be another challenge once the remainder of the student body returns to campus. Students are scheduled to move back onto campus on September 13th .

Teammates

Lawrence gave some insights into how camp was going and spoke on some of the new, and old faces around Reeves Football Facility.

Amari Rodgers- Lawrence said he worked out with Rodgers the most out of anybody on the tema over the summer. Said the slot receiver looks fast and “you can’t even tell he hurt his knee”

DJ Uiagalelei- said the freshman phenom QB is soaking up everything he can in the QB room and asking him as many questions as he can. Said his arm talent is incredible and has a very strong arm. Also said it takes a lot for a guy with as much talent as Uiagalelei to come into a place like Clemson and wait his turn.

Ajou Ajou- said the freshman wide reciever was at practice today and “looks like a freak” speaking to his athleticism.
