Tigers put up 11 run-inning in win over Citadel

Clemson looked to get back in the win column after a tough loss Tuesday night to Presbyterian College. Right-handed Pitcher Jackson Lindley took to the mound as the Tigers starting pitcher, in hopes to turn the bad luck that has been plaguing the Clemson pitchers around.

Clemson got the game going quickly with a quick 123 inning for Jackson Lindley and the Tigers on defense.

Grayson Byrd would get the ball rolling for the Tigers hitting his 10th home run of the season to put the Tigers ahead early in the bottom of the second inning.

Clemson would add another run to the board in the bottom of the third inning on a Michael Green RBI that would send Sam Hall across home plate to give the Tigers the 2-0 lead. A Grayson Byrd single would send Michael Green across home plate and extend the Tigers lead to three.

Clemson would bring in two more runs on a Chad Fairey single that would bring in Jordan Greene and Kyle Wilkie. Clemson would earn 11 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, including a first career home run from freshman Chad Fairey. The score would stand at 14-0 at the top of the fifth inning.

The Citadel would get on the board after scoring on a wild pitch during the top of the fifth inning.

The Tigers dominance would continue as Grayson Byrd would score on a Justin Hawkins RBI extending the lead 15-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Keyshawn Askew would pitch in relief for Jackson Lindley after he pitched six innings, allowing two hits and only one run.

Grayson Byrd would hit this second home run of the game, 11th of the season in the bottom of the seventh inning extending the lead 17 -1.

With the Tigers holding such a huge lead, Askew only saw one inning of play before Sheldon Reed would come in relief for him. During his inning as pitcher, Askew was able to complete a 123 inning, allowing one hit and no runs.

The Citadel would add two more runs in the top of the eighth inning to make it 17-3. The Tigers would hold on to get themselves back in the win column with a 17-3 victory. The Tigers head to Raleigh to take on the NC State Wolfpack in a weekend series before returning home for their final home series of the regular season against Wake Forest on the 16th.
