Tigers Fall to Deacons in Regular Season Finale

Clemson, SC

Clemson’s baseball team was looking to seize on the momentum it created over the past week … with a mid week road win at Coastal Carolina and winning the first two game of this weekend ACC series with the Deacons of Wake Forest. The Tigers looked to insure a spot in the NCAA tourney and head into the ACC tournament with a hot streak of wins and hope that would propel them to a ACC Championship.

The Tigers were unable on Sunday to complete the sweep of Wake, the Deacons bombed the Clemson pitching staff over the course of this 9 inning contest.  And no matter what pitcher showed up on the mound today it was glorified batting practice for the Deac’s as they were able to salvage a game in the series in a big way.  With a 14-5 win the Deacs’ sealed Clemson’s fate as an 8th seed heading to Durham for next week’s ACC tournament.  At 15-15 for the year in the league, Monte Lee’s young guns seemed to run out of gas down the stretch of the 2019 regular season.

Now to see if the Tigers can get a second wind here in the post season and get some more momentum out of the trip to the Tar Heel state and hope this propels the Clemson team into the NCAA Tourney field. Stay tuned right here to CSN as we have Lindsey Rhodes already up in North Carolina to cover the Tourney and update us on the Tigers and their Progress..
