Clemson vs Wake Forest

Coming off a big win against Pitt tuesday night, the Tigers welcomed Wake Forest into an electric atmosphere at Littlejohn Coliseum for a noon tipoff. Wake is riding on a four game losing streak. Elijah Thomas got the Tigers on the board first but it would take the Demon Deacons five minutes into the first period before they would get on the board. The Demon Deacons would struggle to keep up with the Tigers throughout the course of the first half. The Tigers would hold the Deacons to 18 points, the fewest first half points allowed since November 13, 2015 against NC Central.

Elijah Thomas led the Tigers with 11 points and 6 rebounds in the first period and Marquise Reed leads the Tigers with 2 assists. During the First Half, the Tigers shot at 44% making 11 out of 25 shots, were shooting at 33.3% making 3 out of 9 shots and were 5-6 at the free throw line.

Elijah Thomas had himself a game, the senior forward would lead the Tigers in total points scoring 23 points and had 10 rebounds. “I give all the credit to my teammates” Thomas said “They got me the ball the in the right place at the right time and it was a really neat experience to be out there today.”

Clemson shot at 47% making 25 shots on 53 times, the Tigers were at 33% with three pointers making 6 on 18 attempts and were at 73% from the free throw line. The Tigers would also account for 34 rebounds throughout the course of the game.

An ultimate highlight of today’s game would be Lyles Davis entering the game with two minutes and 09 seconds left and would drain a 3 pointer from the paw and Littlejohn went wild. Honestly, I have never heard Littlejohn that loud this season. Elijah Thomas commented on Lyles Davis three pointer “Man, player of the game, player of the year probably. I was so excited that I almost ran to other team’s bench, I was that excited. Lyles puts in so much work that you guys and the fans don’t see. I’m telling you that in practice, Lyles is intimidating.”

“Such a great win by our team. I am really happy to just see a solid 40 minutes defense by our guys.” Brad Brownell said postgame. “We have had some games where we defended really well. We’re not an elite offense to be honest with you. We put up 64 points today but we missed a lot of threes that we’ve could have made. To be in the elite conference we are, we have got to get better offensively.”

The 37 points that were scored today by Wake Forest is the fewest amount of points that Clemson has allowed against an ACC opponent during the Brownell era.
