Tigers Conclude Play at Florida State Invitational

Clemson, S.C. — The Clemson women’s tennis team wrapped up competition at the Florida State Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers will not compete in the final day of competition as originally scheduled. 

Laura Marti and Zaina Nait Omar picked up the lone doubles win of the tournament for Clemson, a 6-2 decision over Alice Amendola/Lara Schnieder of FSU. In singles, Jenna Thompson won, 4-6, 6-4, ret., over Amendola. The victory marked Thompson’s first career win over an ACC opponent.

A pair of Tigers also earned set victories in singles. Nait Omar notched a 6-1 first set win against Georgia’s Alee Clayton but ultimately fell 6-1, 6-7 (4-7), 5-7. Makayla Mills took the second set of her match, 7-5, despite losing 6-7 (5-7), 7-5, 7-10 to Schnieder.

The Tigers return to the court on Thursday when they host No. 14 South Carolina at 2 p.m.
