CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson’s Rojé Stona was named the ACC Men’s Field Performer of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday. The junior earned the honor for his monster 64.98 meter discus throw at the Tom Jones Memorial Meet, which is good for the Clemson record in the event.
The native of Montego Bay, Jamaica was the national runner-up in the event last season, and is now positioned to once again contend for the title. The school record shattered the previous mark of 61.98 meters held by Jack Harkness. Stona’s previous personal best was good for second in school history at 61.94 meters.
Stona is one of the most accomplished athletes currently on Clemson’s roster. He is a two-time All-American and four-time All-ACC member. His school-record 64.98 meters is the third-farthest throw in the NCAA this season and is 11th best in the world this year.
Stona and the Tigers will be back in action on Saturday, April 23 at South Carolina for their sixth meet of the season.
