PJ Hall Totals Double-Double in Narrow Loss at No. 9 Duke

Sophomore PJ Hall notched his third double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

CLEMSON, S.C. — Clemson University men’s basketball were led by PJ Hall (Spartanburg, S.C./Dorman) who finished with his third double-double of the season in a narrow 71-69 loss at No. 9 Duke on Tuesday night.

The Tigers (11-9, 3-6 ACC) were led by Hall’s 14 points, and they also got 13 points and eight rebounds from Hunter Tyson (Monroe, N.C./Piedmont) and 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists from Chase Hunter (Atlanta, Ga./Westlake).

After the opening stanza, both teams were deadlocked at 36-36. Clemson trailed 60-53 with 9:25 left in regulation, but would ignite an 8-0 run sparked by a Tyson fast break three and capped by a Nick Honor (Orlando, Fla./Lake Highland) triple.

Both teams would see-saw the score until both were tied at 65-65. Two-straight baskets by the Blue Devils (16-3, 6-2 ACC) would seemingly keep the Tigers at bay. Clemson had a chance down 67-65 and Honor had a three rim out.

Clemson returns to the court on Wednesday, Feb. 2 when it hosts Florida State at 7 p.m. in Littlejohn Coliseum.
