One on One with Trevion Thompson

Graduate wide receiver, Trevion Thompson has been apart of the Tigers regular rotation each of the three years that he has started. The Durham, NC native has 32 receptions for 317 yards and one touchdown in over 901 snaps over 41 games in his career.

So far this season, Thompson can account for 2 catches for 22 yards in the season opener against the Furman Paladins, an 11-yard catch against Georgia Southern, and gained five yards on a reception at Wake Forest.

Q – Over the past few years, the NC State game has come down to the wire. What was it about this game that was so different?

Thompson – The motivation. We were told a lot this week by Coach Swinney about what Coach Doren said, that just motivated the guys and lit a fire underneath us.

Q – Was there anything that was said specifically that motivated you guys?

Thompson –  The fact that he thought that the last few years were close and that they were going to come in here and just beat us. I can’t remember word for word what he said but it was along the lines of that. We’ve been pushing for two weeks, we knew what we had coming and we were ready.

Q – You have had a great career here at Clemson, can you recall your favorite memory here?

Thompson – I would say all the clutch catches because I knew that the team needed it, I know there were some big ones and the fact that the coaches had the faith in me to be out there on the field and make those catches. But I would have to say that my favorite one out of all of those would be the South Carolina game because I know how big that game is and it was great just be apart of that.

Q –  When you came to Clemson as a freshman, was there anybody who took you under their wing and helped you get acclimated to college?

Thompson – Korrin Wiggins, we went to the same high school. He knew the ends and outs of the college football world; I took to him because he was my best friend. In my position, it was Charone Peake, Charone and I talk a lot and we had a good bond so he was the guy that kind of took me under his wing and kept my head on straight.
