NIT Tourney Clemson vs Wright State: By the Numbers Preview

 

After a short run in the ACC tournament, the Tigers begin postseason play as they play host to the champions of the Horizon league regular season champions the Wright State Raiders. Clemson enters the NIT as the #2 seed and Wright State enters as the #7 seed.

 

Head Coach Brad Brownell, before coming to Clemson, was the head coach at Wright State. Brownell made immediate impact upon arrival at Wright State. During the 2007 season, Brownell led the Raiders to their first-ever Horizon league title after beating a nationally ranked Butler, claiming both regular season and tournament titles. Brownell stayed coach until 2010 before leaving to come to Clemson.

 

 

 

Wright State comes into Tuesday’s matchup with a 21-13 record. The Raiders average 73.3 points per game, 35.2 rebounds, 14.0 assists and allow their opponents to score an average of 67.4 points a game.

 

Taking a look offensively, the Raiders are led in points by Loudon Love. Love scores on average 15.1 points per game and has a field goal percentage of 49.5%. Cole Gentry has the highest amount of assists per game, Gentry averages 3.3 assists per game and Andy Neff has the highest field goal percentage on the team at 66.7% but averages 0.8 points per game.

 

Defensively, Loudon Love is all over the ball. Love holds the highest amount of rebounds and blocks on the team. Love averages 8.2 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game. While Cole Gentry averages 1.3 steals per game.

 

The Tigers will tipoff with Wright State at 7 p.m. Tuesday night following a 4 p.m. baseball game. General Admission is $12 and Clemson students get in free with a valid ID.
