Clemson is really changing in a lot of ways, If you have noticed in the past 2 years the influx of new construction all over the downtown map. It is physically and literally changing the look and feel of the “Old college Downtown” that Clemson was so famous for. And the on street store fronts that have fed into this community for decade upon decade. These businesses have created this “College Town” and familiar family feeling that has resided in downtown Clemson for decades.
Well now we get news that Mr Knickerbockers an Clemson tradition and a store that has served the community in the same location for over 45 years has released a statement that they are closing the downtown location and moving to a new undisclosed location before this years football season.
Mr Knickerbockers is owned by the Spearman family and has been a “family” business and local Icon for all the 45 years in the location. Its usually in every Clemson fans plans to “stop in at Knickerbockers’ on game day and gather up all the latest Clemson gear as they visit Tiger town.
“It is with great difficulty we announce the closing of our downtown Clemson location,”
“We will announce any new locations plans as soon as we finalize details. We have had the pleasure of serving so many amazing Clemson fans since 1973 at this location and we cherish all of our memories we have collected and our friendships we have made for a lifetime, for that has been our greatest pleasure and success. We love our Clemson customers and we hope to see you at our Hwy 123 location next to Publix in Clemson, our “Shops At Greenridge” location on Woodruff Road in Greenville and our sales outlet store in Central.”
