According to the ACC preseason polls, the Clemson Tigers are expected to bring in their sixth ACC title in a row this season. The Tigers got 132 of the media panel’s 134 votes and are also picked to win the ACC Football Championship Game. Not only was the team recognized as a whole, but several players were acknowledged by the voting media members of the ACC as part of their preseason honors.
Quarterback Trevor Lawerence was named Preseason ACC Player of The Year with 100 ballots and part of the All-ACC Preseason Football Team with 131 ballots. Lawrence is deserving after putting up 7,800 yards of total offense while accounting for 76 touchdowns in two collegiate seasons.
Last season, Travis Etienne became the first running back in more than four decades to be named ACC Player of the Year in back-to-back years. Unfortunately, he fell short to Trevor Lawernce for the title. However, Etienne led all players in the vote for the All-ACC Preseason Football Team with 133 of the 134 ballots. He will be entering the 2020 season as the ACC’s all-time career leader in rushing touchdowns (56), total touchdowns (62), and points by a non-kicker (372).
Joining Lawerence and Etienne on the All-ACC Preseason Football Team is offensive tackle Jackson Carman, defensive tackle Tyler Davis, and cornerback Derion Kendrick. All five players are expected to help lead the Tigers to a dominating 2020 season.
