Just off our weekly teleconference call with Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney.  This weeks call due to the bye week was moved to this evening.  Coach Swinney opened with a short statement and then answered a few questions.

Swinney started his opening statement with a moment to remember CJ Fuller and his family… ” We had CJ’s funeral it was a beautiful service”.  Then onto this past weekends victory over Wake Forest and the Clemson head man stated it was a “Special game. . . Lot of funSo many good things in the game . . .  Fun game in that we got to see a lot of guys”.  In regards to how he feels about his team going into the bye week. . .

Dabo mentioned “Wanted to create some confidence and momentum going into the open date”.  Clemson finds itself at 6-0 and 3-0 in the ACC going into the bye week and that is considerably better than a year ago when the Tigers found themselves fresh off an upset loss to Syracuse.

In regards to this years version of the Clemson offense and its continued consistency in being able to create the  “Explosive Play” … Swinney stated “Six Touchdown’s of 50 yards or more”  referencing this big play capability.

On how the Clemson defense played against the Deacons Swinney mentioned how the Brent Venables led group … “Played good red zone defense. . . Dominated third down” And on the defensive backfield’s performance. . . “only seven of twenty seven passing . . . Had a turn over”

We had a question of our own to pose to Coach Swinney on how this team compared to others.

C-S-N: Dabo its the mid way point…. As you head out onto the practice fields tonight…  what has this team shown you so far character or talent wise over the course of these first six weeks that you can say is an outlier or just different …..from your previous years and teams you have coached?

Coach Swinney:  “Good leadership . . . how they lead . . . see them work together and be selfless . . . Really stayed focused”

on how this team has been character wise “Fun group to coach they want to improve. . .they are willing to put the work in. . . They just show up and do what they are supposed to do. . .A group that has a chance to be special “
