Clemson to use 2 QB’s Versus Texas A&M

Clemson, SC

Coach Dabo Swinney confirmed  Sunday, via his weekly  teleconference that Clemson  indeed will employ a two-quarterback  game plan for the upcoming match up in College Station, TX against the Aggies of Texas A&M on September the 8th.

We also spoke with both Kelly Bryant and Trevor Lawrence on Monday during our weekly media access and were able to confirm that both QB’s do expect to play.  Also in talking with co-offensive coordinator Jeff Scott, that it has been the plan so far this season to continue to play the two quarterback,  Scott says the staff’s evaluation so far is that both are playing equally as well and deserving of reps and playing time. With Bryant going 11/17 with one TD, and Lawrence took advantage of his time as well completing 9 out of 14 for 3 TDs.

Bryant, who said “I still consider myself the man” in regards to the starting quarterback job talked about the upcoming match up with A&M on a big stage. . . with ESPN’s college game-day all set to broadcast from College Station.

Lawrence when asked about the venue and the tall task of going on the road in an hostile stadium and thriving…  “it’s gonna be crazy, but like you said” I never had that experience before”  “But the coaches have done a good Job preparing us  an they will do a good job preparing us this week.”.

On Splitting time with Kelly.  Lawrence said “ obviously I like getting to play”  when asked how it feels to share the snaps . . . stating  he is “pretty used to it by now”.

This has been coming for quite some time,  as media and fans alike have speculated on just how this team and coach Swinney would address and adjust to this quarterback battle as it played out up to the start of the season.  I think you saw on Saturday against Furman , how it just may play out now on the field in front of the college football nation as this season progresses. Stay tuned as we follow this weekly story line from Clemson.
