Clemson Season: So Far . . . So Good. . .

Clemson, SC

The Tigers started the season ranked #2 in the nation and after the first nine weeks of the 2018 college football season that is exactly where the Clemson football team sits as they take the field on Saturday at 12 noon versus the Louisville Cardinals.

With all the drama on and off the field with the quarterback position alone. This Clemson team with all its preseason accolades was able to put on the blinders and keep the focus on this season and its ultimate goal of a 4th consecutive ACC Title and a fourth straight appearance in the College Football Playoff.

The Tiger who have started to really hit their stride with an offense and defense that ranks in the top ten in scoring in the nation on both sides of the ball. Since the insertion of  Trevor Lawrence into the line up at quarterback has hit a preverbal “groove”.  Averaging now 44 points a game and ability to run or pass to compliment each other.  With Travis Etienne leading the ACC with 847 yards going into this game with the Cardinals. And Louisville’s propensity to allow big games and big plays in the run game… look for #9 to go off this week and add to his stellar 2018 campaign.  When it comes to the passing game. Even though he has only started four games in the season Trevor Lawrence leads the ACC in touchdown passes with 16 going into week nine.

The defense which all preseasons was hyped up due to the return of Wilkins, Ferrell, Bryant, and Lawrence has lived up to the hype here as the season progressed at present the #1 ranked scoring defense in the nation at  13 points per game.  And the question mark that was the defensive backfield is now filled with answers as both safety and cornerback have been able to solidify depth at each position group, an area of real concern coming into the season.
