Clemson National Signing Day: Teaser & Projections

The second National Signing Day is right around the corner and Clemson is honing in on several important prospects.

TJ “Bull” Dudley, the 4-star linebacker out of Montgomery, Alabama, will announce his intentions at 10:00am on Wednesday. The 6-1 220 LB had committed to Oregon but when Coach Mario Cristobal left for Miami, he decommitted. Apparently, it’s down to Clemson and Oregon. Dudley’s teammate, Kylon Griffin, committed to Clemson earlier in the week. Dudley is rumored to possibly be at Clemson this weekend for an official visit.

4-star DT Caden Story has a similar “story”. Story, 6-3 282, was committed to Auburn, but took back his pledge on January 16th. Former Auburn coach Nick Eason returned to his alma mater on January 7th. Coincidence? Story will be announcing his commitment on Wednesday, also at 10:00am, choosing between Auburn, Florida and Clemson. CSN Projects Story to Clemson

Underrated RB Andrew Paul could be the hidden gem of this class. From the great state of Texas, Paul, 6-0 215, came on strong as Power 5 teams started to take notice after the December signing day. The Tigers jumped in with an offer to Paul on January 6th. Since then, Georgia, Michigan, Oregon, and Notre Dame have thrown their hats in the ring. Paul is scheduled to announce his school of choice at 11:20am CT on Wednesday.

Another underrated RB has a familiar ring to it. Keith Adams, Jr., son of former Clemson LB Keith Adams, is scheduled to make his pledge on signing day as well. The 3-star Adams is considered the #1 RB in the state of Utah, picking up over 1300+ yards rushing his senior year and 24 total touchdowns. He previously played at Cherokee High School in Canton, GA, where he gained over 2400+ yards and 24 touchdowns. He has narrowed down his choices to Clemson, Marshall, Air Force and USF and will make his announcement on Wednesday, February 2nd. We will announce the time as we get it.

Defensive end Jahiem Lawson from nearby Daniel High School was scheduled to make his announcement earlier this week but something prevented that from happening. The 3-star edge rusher has gone silent. Hopefully, we will find out more about him closer to signing day.

As with every Clemson recruiting class, Coach Dabo Swinney really likes to bring a certain number of walk-ons into the program. This year is no exception.

Daniel edge rusher, Griffin Batt, will be signing with Clemson on Wednesday at 1pm. Batt, 6-2 210, was a starter at defensive end this past season, registering 108 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and three sacks.

Caleb Nix, brother of former Auburn quarterback Bo Nix, has accepted a Preferred Walk On slot and will sign with Clemson Wednesday morning at 930am EST. Nix helped lead Central High School in Phoenix City, AL, to a 14-1 record, throwing for 2897 yards, 38 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He also rushed for 639 yards and 12 more touchdowns.

Michael Mankaka, athlete from Laurens, SC, will sign as a preferred walk-on to Clemson at 2pm on Wednesday. The versatile 6-2 185 Mankaka played WR, CB and FS in his last year of high school.

For the first time in several years, there are several unknowns happening with Clemson recruiting during the second signing period. The Clemson coaching staff have been on a mission to recover from decommits as a result of Coach Brent Venables departing for Oklahoma. Stay tuned, it’s going to be fun to watch.
