Clemson Commits & Targets: Friday Night Lights Recap & Preview

By Neil Burnett

The one commit that everyone wants to know about is of course DJ Uiagelelei of St. John Bosco in Bellflower, California. DJ did not have the guady numbers one would expect but understand, this was the first game of the season and we expect him to get better as the season goes on. He completed 17-37 for 322 yards and 2 touchdowns in a 35-7 win over Dematha of Maryland.. He is blessed to have three very good wide receivers in Kris Hutson (4-star who is an Oregon lean), Logan Loya (4-star with several Power 5 offers) and Beaux Collins (4-star junior who is currently ranked as the #2 WR in the nation in his class). With that many weapons, DJ is in the same position as Trevor Lawrence. Big gun with lots of targets.

Demarckus Bowman had a big night as his Lakeland high school Dreadnaughts (don’t ask, I don’t know what a dreadnaught is) pounded Manatee high school 45-0. Bowman rushed for 186 yards and an 80 yard touchdown run. Bowman is a 5-star running back that will be a difference maker early for the Tigers.

TE Sage Ennis and his Lincoln High Trojans trounced Godby high school, 32-12 Friday night.

” I’m not too sure on my exact stats but I had one receiving touchdown and about 8 carries for around 80-90 yards at wildcat QB. I had about 5 or 6 receptions for 50-60 yards.. so happy to be playing football again!”

Tyler Venables, yeah, you recognize the last name, is a 5-11 195 safety that has committed to Clemson. However, at Daniel High School, he is the safety AND the quarterback. His Daniel team had a 44-0 shutout victory over Liberty high school on Friday night. All he did against Liberty was go 17-19 for 189 yards, 2 touchdowns and run for another score. Rest assure, at his size, he is a safety on this team, and going to be a very good one at that.

3-star WR Ajou Ajou and his Clearwater Academy team destroyed Immokalee high school, 68-6. Will post stats later.

Bryan Bresee, DT, Demascus HS (Demascus, MD) opens up Friday against Rockville HS, Rockville, MD.
