B.Y.O.G What 2018 Opponent Presents Biggest Challenge?

As we look toward the Fall and the start of September and the beginning of this years 2018 College Football Season, what opponent must the this years Tigers muster up the adage “BYOG” ?

With a schedule that features games against no less than 7 teams that played in bowl games in 2017.  Also road trips to very hostile confines as in College Station(TX) , Tallahassee, (FL) , and a trip to Chestnut Hill and Boston College in November.  All three present very stiff mental challenges as the atmosphere at these stadiums is well known though out college football.

With an early season visit to Texas A&M,  the Tigers face a team that just had a coaching change.  Jimbo Fischer now takes over in College Station, after a not so happy departure from FSU, bringing his pro style offense and great recruiting acumen with him to the SEC west.

This trip happens early in the season and brings the Tigers into a hostile stadium as Kyle Field is well known for it’s 100 plus thousand rabid fans, and the famous “12th Man “.  The stadium rocks and sways with the Cadet corps and a laundry list of old school traditions.  A very big challenge for this years Tigers to roll into Texas in Game two of the season and come out with a victory.

Next up on the calendar comes a trip to Tallahassee in October to face Florida State newly hired Willie Taggarts fast paced multiple formation offense in a place that has always been tough to win at no matter who you are or what the Seminoles are playing like.

Doak Campbell Stadium has always been a night mare for visiting teams to come into and walk out with a victory.  The “Chop” starts as soon as the FSU band arrives in the stadium and does not stop until they end the game.  That alone is enough to wear on any fan’s nerves much less the players on the field at where all that energy is directed.

From the moment Chief Osceola drops that spear into the turf at the 50 yard line until the final seconds run out the Tigers are going to be in for a very intense atmosphere as FSU and it’s talented roster of Sunshine State phenoms will play uber hard from start to finish.  Expect this Mid Season clash to register all over the college football world.  As FSU even with the big transition should be in the top 25 at this point in their schedule.  http://seminoles.com/traditions/

Finally the road trips end in November as the Tigers head up the east Coast and visit the Eagles of Boston College and a trip to Chestnut Hill and a completely different BC team than they faced earlier in the season in 2017.  This years BC team will come in with the ACC’s top RB and a experienced Quarterback.  Coach Steve Addazio and his pro style approach and his tough defense will now bring with it an offense that is capable of putting up points.  The last half of the 2017 season saw BC rip through it’s schedule and it’s ALL ACC Running back racking up big yards as the offense upped it’s potency.

A hit or miss atmosphere, if BC is winning the stadium will be packed and the place has a great game day feel.  If the Eagles are on a slide or do not live up to pre season expectations, then expect a very barren and desolate stadium that sucks the life out of teams that play there in utter silence.  The BC fanbase is very finicky and it’s hit or miss. But the team always plays the Tigers hard in Chestnut Hill.
