Clemson Defensive Coordinator Brent Venables spoke with media following beating the Virginia Cavaliers 41-23. Overall, Venables thought the team had many good plays, but there were still lots of inconsistencies that the team can use as a significant learning experience.

Going into the game, Venables knew what to expect from Virginia quarterback Brandon Armstrong. He knew that his young defense would have to be aware of how good an athlete Armstrong is. Venables explained that his players were fighting all night to get things done, especially going up against an experienced offensive line.

The Tigers win over the Cavaliers makes it Clemson’s 46th consecutive win on a Saturday. Venables is proud and believes its something incredible for the “tradition-rich” Clemson. He also acknowledged Head Coach Dabo Swinney and the work that he has put in to break that record.

Venables and his defense are ready to improve in preparation for the big game on Saturday vs. the 7th ranked Miami Hurricanes.
