Two Sport Athlete Commits to Clemson
By Neil Burnett:
Quarterback Roy “Bubba” Chandler, just days after decommitting from a University of Georgia baseball scholarship, has committed to Clemson to play football. Chandler, 6-4 195 out of Bogart, Georgia, is a solid quarterback in his own right. As a junior, Chandler completed 111 of 205 passes for 1,763 yards, 22 touchdowns. He also rushed for 426 yards on 62 carries and three more touchdowns. He hasn’t even reached his full potential yet at quarterback.
“Bubba Chandler is going to be a really good player. Multi-sport prospect. Good height, build and AA. Gunslinger mentality. Grips and rips. Loose with a smooth stroke. Let’s ball dip and get away from his body too much, could tighten up in that regard. Good feet, can improvise. Makes plays on the move. We like his poise and demeanor. Very accurate player.” — Tom Luginbill, National Recruiting Director, CFB Analyst ESPN.
Chandler will pursue playing baseball while at Clemson as well. Perfect game rates Chandler as a 9.5, which basically means at the end of his senior year, there is a good chance MLB could come calling.
According to the website Perfect Game: “Roy “Bubba” Chandler is a 2021 RHP/SS with a 6-2 185 lb frame (He has grown since those measurements) from Bogart, Georgia. Primarily a right handed pitcher with a big side step into a simple delivery with energy at release. Arm strength played well from secondary position of the infield, shortstop. Switch hitter. Good student.” Welcome to Clemson, Bubba Chandler. Brought to you by:
