By Neil Burnett:
Barrett Carter out of Suwannee, Georgia, has decided to play his college football career at Clemson University for Coach Dabo Swinney. Carter, ranked as the 11th best linebacker in the 2021 class by ESPN, had narrowed his choices down to Clemson, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia and Ohio State. Carter’s former teammate, Jordan Hancock, committed earlier and brings a potent tandem to the Clemson defense. As a junior, Carter,. 6-1 220, racked up 76 tackles and 9 sacks, and is primed to have a standout senior season.
Clemson now has two commitments at linebacker for the 2021 class, giving the tigers two outstanding playmakers at the position. . Jeremiah Trotter, Jr., the #1 inside linebacker in the country in the 2021 class, is the son of former NFL linebacker great Jeremiah Trotter. These two players will lead this tiger defense for 3+ years, joining 2020 linebackers Trenton Simpson, Sergio Allen and Kevin Swint. Needless to say, linebacker is not a position of concern for Clemson for the near future.
Carter becomes the 11th commitment for the Tigers in this class. Next in line could be a defensive end out of North Carolina. Zaire Patterson has Clemson in his final four and will be announcing his college choice on May 26th.
