ACC Championship Limited Capacity
By Makenna Biehl
This Saturday, the Clemson Tigers will be facing the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in Bank of America Stadium at 4:00 PM. The usually packed stadium will be limited to only 7% capacity due to North Carolina COVID restrictions. That equals 5,240 people that will be able to watch the game in person.
While a limited capacity has been typical throughout the 2020 season for most football teams, it will create a different atmosphere for championship-level games. Not only has COVID limited stadium capacities at games, but it has also resulted in championship games being canceled altogether.
The Sun Belt Conference Championship was supposed to feature the No. 12 Coastal Carolina Chanticleers and the No. 19 Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns. However, the game has been canceled due to a positive COVID test from Coastal Carolina. With contact tracing, it would have left a whole position group out of the game. Both teams are now working on trying and getting the game rescheduled.
The Clemson Tigers will be taking the opportunity to play, even if it means having a limited crowd. The Tigers will be facing the Fighting Irish on Saturday at 4:00 on ABC.
