#5 Clemson Takes Care of Business 31-3 Over BC

Clemson VS BC: Taking Care Of Business

The Tigers traveled up to Boston College for what many believed to be the “trap game”

for Clemson. How would they stack up after back to back emotional games? Here is how Clemson met BC’s challenge.

The first quarter yet again was a feeling out process, with Clemson making big plays but only a B.T.  field goal to show for it. DJ started the game strong, but had a costly interception that have the Eagles great field position in the quarter. The Clemson defense would hold on to stop BC from capitalizing but the interception was something Tiger fans did not want to see as Uiagalelei, who had a stellar season so far and was not making mistakes like those. The first quarter would end with BC threatening to score in the end zone, capitalizing on Clemson’s offensive mistakes. The quick first quarter would end with Clemson leading the Eagles 3-0

The second quarter was a feeling out process. BC and Clemson couldn’t seem to get an edge offensively over one another. Jurkovec and Uiagalelei both struggled to move the chains trying to move the ball against gritty defenses. It became a battle of field position, when the Tigers stopped the eagles in their own end zone and forced a punt which gave the Tigers a short field which would result in a Shipley touchdown, who did not touch the ball as much as initially believed. The half would conclude with the Tigers up seven, but not much ground gained between the two teams.

Could the Tigers pull away? Or would the Eagles pull off a monumental upset? The second half would answer these questions.

The second half began with a Tiger statement. A defensive 3 and out once again set the tone for the second half, with the defense swarming the Jurkovec led defense as they attempted to crawl back into the game. As the offense stepped onto the field, the feel was that they needed to come into the second half swinging in a big way. They did this in the form of trusting their receiving core. Beaux Collins would make a big third down grab and Joseph Ngata would have his first touchdown grab of the season to help the Tigers gain a fourteen point lead. Xavier Thomas, making his season debut, made his presence known with his first sack of the season, keeping the BC offense from getting back into the game. As CSN live predicted, the Tigers would begin to pull away during the start of the second half.

The fourth quarter began with a wide open Beaux Collins TD courtesy of DJ Uiagalelei. The Tigers strengthened their grip on their lead over the Eagles very early into the fourth quarter. This is what you wanted to see from the Tigers, controlling the game when they needed to and making big plays when the game calls for it.

For Tiger fans worried about the slow start, think back to the 2018 national championship team that came to BC and won by 20. That game was not as dominant as fans expected and the team still went on to accomplish great things, this Tiger team is fresh off of back to back top 25 wins, an emotional high. Clemson is rolling and has won their sixth straight and when looking back on last year, should bc looked at as a major accomplishment. Clemson comes into BC and takes care of business, with a tough FSU team up next on the ACC schedule.
