Xavier Thomas To Miss Remainder Of The Season

Xavier Thomas To Miss Remainder Of The Season

By: Grayson Mann

Star defensive end Xavier Thomas, who has been battling a foot injury since the beginning of fall camp, will now miss the rest of the season.

According to Dabo Swinney on his radio show, there was too much of a risk on the table, and he and Xavier decided it was best to move forward. There are still options for Thomas, as he could redshirt this year or declare for the NFL Draft.

Thomas had an electric debut against Boston College, posting two sacks, a forced fumble, and a quarterback hit that led to him earning ACC defensive player of the week in just six snaps. XT would play 52 snaps the entire season.

XT had this to say on Twitter as he addressed the Tiger faithful on his status for the remainder of the season.

“From the bottom of my heart, I’m so sorry Clemson nation…so much out of my control with the foot breaking this year. The bone that was broken & healing and was so close to being 100% recracked in practice. Have to get surgery next week. God NEVER makes mistakes! I love you all!”

For someone as passionate about Clemson Football as XT, the Clemson faithful has undoubtedly felt this loss but have been nothing but supportive along the way. Xavier has battled many challenges but has never wavered and continued to press onward.

CSN will update on this as things progress as the Tigers look to get back in the win column against Louisville on Saturday.
