Will “Flapjack” Owens… Flip Back ?

4 Star OL Zeccariah “Flapjack” Owens and Qb Commit Chris Vizzina

As everyone has already figured out, college football recruiting is not an exact science. High school prospects are pushed, prodded, bribed, and maneuvered around like assets in a large company. They take to social media and promote themselves like movie producers promoting their upcoming movies. In the end, they are still 16-17 kids looking to make a decision. It USED to be a decision on where they might spend the next 3-5 years of their young lives. Thanks to the wide open transfer portal, it’s basically a decision where they plan on being in the next year of their life.

Zechariah “Flapjack” Owens is one such prospect. The 4-star Owens, 6-6 360, is a mountain of an offensive lineman and committed to the Clemson Tigers on July 5th. He was to join two other 4-star linemen to give the Tigers a solid 3-man OL class. Was. On October 13th, for whatever his reason was, he decommitted from the Tigers and decided to take a visit to Florida State.

There are rumors that the decommitment came with the hint of an NIL deal but who really knows what goes on behind closed doors. A recent article has suggested that Owens has contacted Coach Dabo Swinney about the possibility of coming back in Clemson’s direction.

Some prospects revel in all the drama a situation like this creates but most kids would rather avoid it all together. Owens took his unofficial visit to Tallahassee over the weekend and by all accounts, the visit did not go well for him or Florida State. Kids can get pulled from many directions in the recruiting game and can easily get turned around. The question now is…..

Will Flapjack Flip Back to Clemson? Only he and Dabo know at this point.
