Volleyball Earns 2023-24 AVCA Team Academic Award

CLEMSON, S.C. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced that the Clemon Volleyball program was a recipient of the 2023-24 AVCA Team Academic Award sponsored by INTENT on Wednesday.

The team posted a cumulative 3.45 GPA during the 2023-24 school year, including a 3.46 during the spring semester. This marks the fifth consecutive season the Tigers have earned the AVCA Team Academic Award, sixth overall, and the third year under Head Coach Jackie Simpson Kirr.

This award comes after Clemson landed a program-high 19 members on the ACC Academic Honor Roll, surpassing the previous best of 18 set in 2020. Clemson also set a program record with eight players on the All-ACC Academic Volleyball Team in the fall of 2023 that included four-time honoree Mckenna Slavik and back-to-back year selections in Azyah Dailey and Devan Taylor, who return for their senior seasons this fall. In total, student-athletes return to the 2024-25 squad that earned either All-ACC Academic or ACC Honor Roll accolades last season.

The award, which was initiated during the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative GPA on a 5.0 scale.
