Track & Field: Williams Named ACC Freshman of the Week

CLEMSON, S.C. – Following her performance at the Duke Invitational, newcomer Shanque Williams has been named the ACC Women’s Freshman of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

This marks the newcomers second ACC Freshman of the Week honor as Williams also received the nod in the indoor season.

At the Duke Invitational, Williams competed in the women’s 400 meters as she secured a ninth place finish with a time of 53.92 which marks the second fastest time the freshman has ran this season.

Williams is currently ranked fifth in the ACC in the 400 meters as she is the only freshman to round out the top five times. Nationally, Williams is ranked 26th in the event.

Up next, Williams and the rest of the Tigers will head to Gainesville, Fla. to compete at the Tom Jones Invitational starting on Friday, April 18.
