Tigers Place 4th in ACC Championships

CLEMSON, S.C. — The Tigers placed fourth in the ACC Championships, highlighted by a third-place, bronze medal race from the 3V8+ on Saturday morning on Lake Hartwell. Clemson totaled 60 total points in the event, the second-most in program history at the ACC Championships, behind a 63-point performance in 2021. Rachel Twitty and Lori Belanger earned All-ACC honors for the Tigers.

Syracuse (#11), Duke (#14), and Virginia (#15) entered the event in the top 15 nationally in the Coaches Poll, with Louisville (#21) and Clemson (#22) checking in just outside the top 20.

The 3V8+ got the Tigers on a roll early with a third-place finish, clocking in at 06:51.306 to put Clemson in a great position. The 2V4+ and 1V4+ were next up as they both placed fourth in their respective grand finals, recording times of 07:35.067 and 07:21.479, respectively.

The 2V8+ was the next race up as it registered a 06:44.353 fifth-place finish before the 1V8+ also placed fifth, clocking in at 6:33.500. The final race was tight throughout, as just ten seconds separated first from fifth.

Virginia claimed the ACC Team Championship with 98 team points, winning four of five races.

“Today is an example of just how tough racing in the ACC can be,” said Head Coach Stephen Frazier Wong. “We had the incredible high of our 3V8 earning a bronze medal and also the low of coming up just a little short of our goals. Regardless of results, however, I am proud of the journey this team has taken together and my gratitude is boundless for these seniors who have taken the culture of Clemson Rowing to a whole new level.”
