COLUMBIA, S.C. — Guinove Joanus won both the 100 and 200 meter dash at the University of South Carolina Open Meet, placing himself in the Clemson top-10 all-time lists or each event. Multiple other Tigers picked up wins and two cracked top-10 lists of their own with an all-around tremendous performance from the program.
Clemson has two meets remaining until ACC Championships in Durham, N.C. and the team is hitting its stride. As the season marches on towards its championship phase, the top talent for the Tigers is consistently producing.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Guinove Joanus’s 10.16 100 meter dash won the event of over 70 participants and put him at No. 9 on Clemson’s all time list for the event. His historic day was not yet done as he subsequently ran a 20.37 200 meter dash to win the event and move into the eighth spot in school history.
- Kiara Grant came blazing onto the scene for the Tigers, running an impressive 11.28 100 meter dash that ties her for the third-fastest runner in the event in the history of the program.
- Alison D’Alessandro, who became Clemson’s school-record holder in the indoor pole vault this season, moved herself into fourth on the outdoor list for the event, clearing 3.98 meters.
- Joanus was not the only men’s sprinter who saw success in Columbia, as Dashinelle Dyer and Fabian Hewitt finished fourth and sixth in the 100 meter dash with times of 10.34 and 10.39, respectively.
- Harleigh White picked up yet another win in the triple jump with a 12.98 meter leap. DJ Ledell and Andre Wright saw success on the men’s side with leaps of 15.41 meters and 14.86 meters, good for second and third place, respectively.
- Serena Clark posted an incredible 11.40 second 100 meter dash, a massive personal best improving upon her previous 11.57 previous mark.
The Tigers will be back in action next weekend at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa. The meet begins on Thursday, April 28 and will run through Saturday, April 30.
