Tigers Lose to Ole Miss in Regional Fall to Elimination Game

Clemson Falls to Ole Miss in NCAA Regional

Clemson was coming into this game with momentum on its side in the form of an impressive victory over Louisville on the way out of the ACC tourney and an equally impressive win over Big Ten Foe Illinois in game 1 of the Regional.  The game tonight versus Regional host Ole Miss for the right to play in the regional title game was the one all expected to see as this regional was announced.

The Tiger just could not get it going offensively where as the Rebels where able to muster an offense attack that chewed through the Clemson pitching staff in a hurry,  Starter Matt Clarke was not able to hold off the Ole Miss Roster as they started off with back to back Homers in the second inning followed by 2 consecutive walks that led to another run and the Tigers were down 3-0 by the time they got to the bottom of the second.

The Ole Miss stater Doug Nikhazy had the Tigers number the entire night as he went deep into the night just reaching the 100 pitch mark as late as the bottom of the 8th inning . With a great selection of pitches and breaking ball that confused the Tiger hitters all night.

Logan Davidson riding a 56 game On base streak, saw the Tiger ALL-ACC shortstop went 0-4 to stop this impressive streak, as a microcosm of the Clemson effort peaked in the bottom of the 8th with 2 runners and Davidson struck out to end the inning with Ole Miss’ lead at 6-1.   The Clemson Bats just never got going as the Rebel freshmen Nikhazi was on the way to a complete game and was in control of the Tigers line up with pinpoint control until the lead off walk to Byrd in the 9th, when the Ole Miss Manager finally gave the starter a breather as he walked off to a standing ovation from the home town crowd. As the Rebels now looked to his bullpen to put the finishing touched on  the Tigers.

The Tigers now will face Jacksonvile State at 3PM (EST) in the elimination game to decide who goes home and then who would face Ole Miss Sunday Night in the Regional Final at 7PM.
