Tigers Lead After Two Rounds at Clemson Invitational

SUNSET, S.C. – Junior Annabelle Pancake birdied a stretch of six out of seven holes en route to a six-under-par 66 to lead Clemson to a three-stroke advantage after two rounds at the Clemson Invitational at the Reserve at Lake Keowee on Saturday. Pancake leads the field of 84 players at 9-under-par, and Clemson’s team score sits at seven-under-par 569 with one round to play. Clemson shot an even-par 288 on the day and remains one of three teams under par. 

The final round of the 16-team tournament is Sunday, beginning with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. LSU (-4) sits in second place, followed by Ole Miss (-3) and Kentucky (E). Tennessee had the team low-round of the day, as they finished seven-under par 281 to match Clemson’s 281 from Friday as the team low-round of the tournament. 

Freshman Isabella Rawl shot a one-under-par 71 to move into a tie for seventh overall, one of four Tigers in the top-11 after two days. 

Pancake, birdied holes four through seven, the longest birdie streak for a Tiger this year. After a par on eight, she birdied nine and ten to catapult herself to eight-under for the tournament. She added with a birdie on fifteen. She leads all players at four-under-par on par fours and is second on par threes at 2-under. 

The leader after the first day, Savannah Grewal, shot a 75, leaving her in a tie for 11th. Chloe Holder (76) and Katherine Schuster (81) rounded out the team scoring. 

Sydney Roberts, competing as an individual, shot an even-par 72, keeping her in a tie for third place overall at three-under. Melena Barrientos also shot even par and is tied for 24th and leads the tournament in par three scoring (-3), and Gabriella Tomanka shot 86 as an individual.
