Tigers Fall to Blue Hose

Clemson vs Presbyterian College

Clemson started game one of a five game week on Tuesday against Presbyterian College. The Tigers are coming off of a 9-7 loss to Gardner Webb on Sunday in Shelby. Tuesday,  Brooks Crawford took to the mound as the Tigers starting pitcher.

Presbyterian scored the first run of the game on a single through the right side and would then score on a RBI that would put the Blue Hose up 2-0 at the top of the first inning.

Bryce Teodosio would even the score for the Tigers during the bottom of the second inning. Teodosio, who had been battling injury would send a homer soaring into the Chapman Grandstands. Michael Green and Teodosio would reach home plate on that run.

Presbyterian would drive in two more runs in the top of the third on a single RBI. However, Clemson was able to keep them to just two runs after two back to back saves from Michael Green and Grayson Byrd, plays that could have been disastrous for the Tigers.

Grayson Byrd would cut the Blue Hose lead down to one run when he would send a single home run out into center field.

Luke Sommerfeld would pitch in relief for Brooks Crawford after Crawford went 3 innings, allowing five hits and four runs. Sommerfeld brought the Tigers their first 123 inning of the game.

Jordan Greene would tie the game up for the Tigers, hitting the third home run of the game. Greene’s home run would immediately be followed by a solo homerun from Justin Hawkins that would give the Tigers their first lead of the game.

Clemson would add another run to their lead on a Sam Hall sac-fly that would bring Michael Greene across home plate for a 6-4 lead in the bottom of the fourth.

Presbyterian would add a run on a line drive RBI down the left field line cutting the Tigers lead in the top of the sixth inning. On a pass ball, PC would even the score during the top of the seventh inning.

The Blue Hose would reclaim the lead with a two run homer in the top of the seventh inning.

On a Logan Davidson sac-fly, Sam Hall would score to cut the Blue Hose lead to one.

Clemson would end up falling to PC 8-7 in 9 innings. The Tigers take on The Citadel tomorrow at 6 p.m.
