Tigers Defeat College Of Charleston, Completes Weekend Sweep
CLEMSON, S.C. — The Tigers’ (2-0, 0-0 ACC) win against the Cougars (0-1, 0-0 CAA) advances Clemson to 28-1 all time against College of Charleston, marking the most wins by Clemson against any non-conference opponent.
While College of Charleston went up early by taking the doubles point, Clemson was able to come back and sweep singles to clinch the match, 6-1. The comeback began at No. 5 where Crisitna Mayorova (6-1, 6-0) only conceded one point. The same feat was then accomplished at line one by Eleni Louka, 6-0, 6-1. A win on Court 4 by Ali DeSpain, in her season debut, quickly followed by Sophia Hatton’s victory at No. 3 clinched the Clemson victory against the Cougars. Jenna Thompson and Makayla Mills finished out the match with 6-1, 1-6, 6-2 and 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 victories, respectively.
