CLEMSON, S.C. — Ousmane Sylla was named this week’s ACC co-Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday. He also earned CollegeSoccerNews.com‘s National Player of the Week nod. The native of Senegal scored the equalizing and the game-winning goals in Clemson’s 3-2 victory over No. 13 Indiana on August 26.
Sylla is coming off a brilliant sophomore season in which he played in 22 games, notching five goals and seven assists en route to being named a member of the All-ACC second team. In two games this season, he has been sensational in the counterattack, scoring two goals against Indiana and assisting on Tim Strobeck’s goal against USC Upstate.
Sylla’s elite dribbling and vision has been a major weapon for the Tigers, and he figures to play a crucial role in the team’s attack all season long. This marks the first ACC Player of the Week honor for the junior.
The Tigers will be back in action against their rival South Carolina on Friday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. in Columbia, S.C. The match will stream on ESPN+.
