CLEMSON, S.C. – Senior Regan Spencer has notched her first ACC weekly honor after being crowned the ACC Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday. This is the first ACC weekly honor of Spencer’s career and the first weekly honor for the Tigers during the 2024 slate.
The right-handed pitched garnered the honor after clocking a 0.00 ERA through three appearances. She limited the best offense in the country entering the weekend to a .257 batting average over nine innings of work without giving up a run, earned or unearned. The Lexington, N.C., native needed only 80 pitches to earn the complete-game shutout, her first solo shutout of 2024, against the Tar Heels on Friday while limiting North Carolina to only five hits and never conceded a walk while retiring three.
She rounded out the weekend with another start against the Tar Heels on Sunday to help the Tigers sweep the series. She pitched two innings without giving up a walk to mark the fifth-consecutive appearance where she didn’t give up a free base. The senior faced 10 batters, needing only 30 pitches to drop her season ERA to 0.51. Her final inning of work came in the midweek against Gardner-Webb on Wednesday where she picked up a single strikeout to help combine for another shutout in the five-inning victory and help the Tigers to a perfect 4-0 weekend.
