Softball: Tigers Add Wieligman to Coaching Staff

CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson Softball Head Coach John Rittman announced the addition of Ryan Wieligman to the 2024-25 staff. Wieligman joins the staff as the Director of Player Pevelopment and be in charge of Clemson’s technology integration.

“We are excited to add Coach Wieligman as our Director of Player Development, and welcome him to the Clemson Family,” said Rittman. “Ryan’s expertise in opponent scouting and analytics will significantly enhance our team’s performance. Ryan brings a unique skill set to our staff that will greatly benefit our program and contribute to our players’ growth both on and off the field.”

Wieligman joins the staff after previously serving as an assistant coach/recruiting coordinator at Creighton. He worked primarily with hitters and on recruiting efforts with additional duties coming from data analysis, film and scouting. He utilized Synergy, Trumedia, 6-4-3 Charts, Valoden Motor Preferences, Rapsodo and Blast to help develop student-athletes. He was a member of the 2024 Big East Coaching Staff of the Year and helped the Bluejays to the third largest RPI increase in the country jumping 133 spots. With his guidance, Creighton had five First Team and two Second Team All-Big East selections with both the conference pitcher and defensive players of the year in 2024. Additional accomplishments came from 20 school records and individual accolades being set for hitters, as well as increases for the program in batting average, doubles, home runs, runs scored and slugging percentage.

Before Creighton, Wieligman held positions at Texas State, University of Texas-Tyler and Henderson State, while also assisting with camps at Ole Miss, Kansas and Arkansas. He spent the 2022 season at Texas State where he worked primarily with the outfielders and included data analysis, film and scouting. He helped develop the Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year and four SBC All-Conference honorees. During his time at the University of Texas-Tyler, Wieligman assisted with hitters, infielders and outfielders while also overseeing film. The staff was named the South Central Region Coaching Staff of the Year and LSC Regular Season Conference Champions. With his guidance, the Patriots produced four NFCA All-South Central selections, six LSC All-Conference players, two LSC Gold Glove winners, the 2021 LSC Newcomer of the Year and 2021 LSC Pitcher of the Year. He served as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Henderson State, for one year following graduation in 2020.
