Rowing Tigers Finish Strong At Pac-12 Invitational

LAS VEGAS, Nev. —
Clemson finished the Pac-12 Invitational strong, upending Big Ten and Pac-12 opponents and was highlighted by second-place finishes in the 1V4+ and 2V8+.

While race times were delayed multiple times, the Tigers stayed focused on Lake Las Vegas, with the 2V8 finishing second in the first race of the day clocking in at 7:36.51, and defeating Pac-12 opponent UCLA and BIG 10 contender Iowa before the 1V8 finished in third, clocking in at 7:20.50. In addition, the fours competed incredibly well with the 2V4+ placing third at 8:06.63 while the 1V4+ clocked in at 7:52.32, which was good for second place.

“I’m always proud of this team and the way they competed, and this weekend is just another reason why,” says Head Coach Stephen Frazier Wong. “With all the travel headaches and weather delays, this group of Tigers battled through to represent the Paw with distinction. Our 2V8 and 1V4 led the way with their back-to-back second-place finishes. Both boats seemed to get stronger through the weekend. Our 1V8 stumbled on Saturday but came back strong today to reverse the result against Iowa. We’re going to enjoy these results on our trip back and then get right back at it next week.”

“We traveled all the way to Las Vegas to take care of business, and that is exactly what we did,” says Karli Robinson. “Our goal was to show the Big Ten and Pac-12 what Clemson is capable of. We did that by putting our bow balls ahead of powerful teams from those conferences.”

“Today was such an amazing achievement for the Tigers!” says Hannah Hayes. “I’m so proud of this team and how far we have come. These girls mean the absolute world to me, and I’m so blessed to get to compete alongside them! I can’t wait to see what the future holds for this program. Next stop is Raleigh.”
