Today, the Clemson Tigers lost out on a quarterback they recruited heavily in Ty Simpson out of Tennessee. Simpson committed to Alabama and will be playing in the SEC, something he has always wanted.
Having said this, the Tigers are also heavily recruiting another highly rated quarterback, 4-star Cade Klubnik out of Austin, Texas. Today, they made the offer official. Clemson has been hot on the trail of Klubnik for the last 8 months.
“WOW!! All glory to God! This one is special. I have built a great relationship with these coaches over the past 8 months. Blessed to receive an offer from Clemson University!!! Go TIgers!!!”
Klubnik, 6-3 186, led Westlake High School to a 14-0 record and the Texas 6A D-1 State title as a junior. He was also Texas District 26-6A Offensive MVP and a MaxPreps first-team Junior All-American. Klubnik passed for over 4000 yards and 50 touchdowns.
“Klubnik was a late bloomer, but sneaky good early on as a young player. He is a good athlete, has some height and will fill out. Strong arm, compact release, with good fundamentals. Plays with confidence. Sneaky good outside of the pocket, plays like a Riverboat Gambler.” —– Tom Luginbill, National Recruiting Director, CFB Analyst, ESPN/NBC.
In January, Klubnik outdueled the #1 player in the nation, Quinn Ewers (Ohio State commit) in the State championship game. Klubnik completed 18-20 passes for 220 yards and a touchdown in the win over Ewers team. He added 97 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 17 carries.
The talented quarterback now has 31 offers and that number will likely go up before he finishes his senior season. Clemson is in really good shape here and Klubnik becomes the 3rd quarterback offered in this class and the 52nd offer overall.
