Player Interview: Cornell Powell talks About his Career Day & the Challenge from Coach Swinney

         After a week of intense practice, senior wide receiver Cornell Powell was able to stack up 11 catches and 105 reception yards against Boston College. After Saturday’s game, Clemson Offensive Coordinator Tony Elliott revealed that Head Coach Dabo Swinney challenged Cornell Powell this week to help him step up and play to his full potential. Powell took on tough coaching to help build more consistency out on the field.

His hard work paid off, and Powell was even able to step up and help make DJ Uiagalelei’s job at quarterback easier. Powell explained that he did everything necessary to ensure a click between quarterback and wide receiver. Powell believes that it was beneficial for Uiagalelei’s confidence to get his first game out of the way. Powell went into more detail, saying how this week, the team will spend the week paying attention to details and focusing on themselves.9

         Powell will spend this upcoming week preparing to take on the #4 Fighting Irish In South Bend. He explained that he is excited to play somewhere that is full of so much tradition. Powell and his Clemson teammates will face Notre Dame on Saturday at 7:30 PM.
