Peach State Clemson LB Commit Returns to Valley this Weekend

Way back in July of 2018 Clemson picked up the verbal commitment of Georgia native Sergio Allen. Allen a Four Star linebacker out of Fort Valley, Ga picked the Tigers over a host of power 5 offers that included schools like Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Florida, Michigan, Ole Miss, Penn St and many more. The four star phenom has been the cornerstone of the Clemson 2020 class again going back over a year plus as Sergio has watched this class grow from his lone commitment.

This 2020 Class and its noticeable high end talent is challenging to be the top rated class in the nation. Not only is this class set to be the top class in Clemson history… but may challenge for one of if not the best recruiting class in college football hisotry. Yes I said it “College Football History”.. Allen has been there since the outset and saw all these pieces come together. We had the chance to speak with Sergio prior to his trip up to visit for the upcoming UNC Charlotte game on Saturday night. Sergio was kind enough to take the time and answer a few questions we had for the blue chipper out of the Peach State.

CSN: Sergio, you committed in July 2018? You’ve been committed a while. Other programs still reach out to you?

SA: “Right July 26th. Some schools still try and reach out like Bama and Auburn yesterday”.

CSN: If you were trying to describe what you bring defensively… to a Clemson fan who did not know of you. who would you say you model your on the field game after or how would you describe yourself.

SA: ” I try and model my game after Ray Lewis mentality wise and smarts wise but I would describe myself on the field as energetic, I communicate a lot, and I’m physical”

CSN: When are you heading back to Clemson for visit ? Do you keep in contact with your fellow 2020 commits and if so, who is your “guy” that you chat up the most?

SA: “I’m gonna try and get back up this weekend!”….” We all keep in contact 24/7 we have group chats. If I had to say who I was closest to I would have to say Kevin Swint”

CSN: Going back to that 7/26/18 commit date… you were one of the first to commit to this class if not the first.. what’s it been like seeing this class evolve around you.. this class could be historic for Clemson and maybe nationally

SA: “Looking back on it I knew Clemson was going to be special. I’ve always loved Clemson and I’ve always known that I wanted to be there. Seeing all of the guys begin to commit I’ll always remember it. Coach Swinney once told us he’s never had a #1 class and we look forward to being his first!”

CSN: Have you noticed all the LB blitzes coach Venables has employed this year? and what is your thoughts on Coach Venables and his approach to coaching and recruiting?

SA: “I actually have noticed some of Coach Venable’s blitzing and It’s amazing how much fire he brings to the defense I can’t wait to be apart of it! I think coach “V” is an amazing recruiter and an even better coach. He’s a down to earth man and a great husband/Father to his wife and kids. Who wouldn’t to play for him? If not him then who wouldn’t want to play for Clemson’s coaching staff, everyone’s great!”

CSN: Last question and thanks so much for your time…. Are you mid year enrollee ?

SA: “I will be a mid year enrolle. I look forward to enrolling early and I’m working everyday to prepare myself”
