CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson gymnastics team and Head Coach Amy Smith have announced their second recruiting class on Wednesday, Nov. 9. The signing class consists of three student-athletes from three different states.
“Words cannot express how thrilled we are to welcome Kate, Quinn and Takoda into our Clemson family,” said Head Coach Amy Smith. “Not only are they fantastic gymnasts, but they are young women of high character and integrity, impeccable in the classroom, and we also feel they will fit in seamlessly with our current seven athletes. It’s just so exciting to see the team come together in such a strong way. It has also been beyond cool to see the girls that come onto campus that can see the vision and want to help us build Clemson gymnastics into one of the top programs in the country. These three are fantastic additions!”

Amy Smith on Quinn – “She is such a vibrant spirit. Her energy is infectious and is going to be a ton of fun to watch and coach. We feel Quinn will be most impactful on bars, beam and vault for us. At 5’9, her long lines make her a standout on bars. She is a dynamic swinger with big gymnastics. Her beam is polished and solid, which should make her a staple in our beam line-up, and she has diligently been working on a 1.5 on vault as well.”

Amy Smith on Kate – “Kate is a more intense and quiet energy, but incredibly powerful. She will make an immediate impact on our vault line-up with a huge 1.5, and we feel like she could also make it into our other line-ups as well. She has some big passes she is training, and she has a very unique dance quality that I am very excited to choreograph.”

Amy Smith on Takoda – “We feel like Takoda is an athlete that was very under the radar and is going to shock a lot of people. She is deceivingly powerful and dynamic. Takoda has the potential to come in on the all-around for us. Bars is a huge standout for her. She is aggressive and looks very much at ease while swinging bars. She has big skills and her line is beautiful. Takoda has a huge 1.5 that she is training on vault, and we should have that ready to go for competition next year. On floor she has a very powerful double pike and is training a double layout as well. She also has a very strong turning ability, so we are excited to work on that since it’s pretty unique, and she does it so well.”
“Additionally, we are so appreciative of Quinn and Takoda doing the extra work to graduate early and be a part of this incredibly special inaugural class. We cannot wait to get in the gym and start training with this group. Big things coming from Clemson Gymnastics.”
