Clark Named ACC Specialist of the Week
Clemson, S.C. – Clemson gymnast Brie Clark has been named the ACC Specialist of the Week, it was announced today by the league office. The nod is the third of the redshirt junior’s career and first weekly ACC award for the Tigers this season.
Clark made history on Friday, February 28. In her floor routine, Clark became the first collegiate gymnast to successfully land the “Biles I” skill, a double layout with a half twist in the second flip, on floor. The Daphne, Ala., native earned a 9.800 for her routine after a .10 deduction for stepping out of bounds on the landing, but her performance made national headlines over the weekend. Clark also took first place in beam with a 9.875 to help lead the Tigers to wins over Texas Woman’s and New Hampshire in the program’s first-ever home tri-meet.
Clemson returns to the mat on Sunday, March 9, heading to Washington, D.C. to compete against George Washington and Penn State. The meet, set to begin at 1:00 p.m., can be seen live on ESPN+.
